Cinco de Mayo...Adios Las Vegas
Tomorrow we leave Las Vegas and I am ready to go. This city is so wacky. Today ate lunch at Margaritaville and saw huge light banks, platforms, cranes set up across the street at Caesar's Palace. We asked our waitress what was going on and she explained that some guy was going to jump over the fountains. I sort of remembered many years ago Evel Knieval trying that same stunt and crashing, his body suffering many broken bones. We just saw on the news that Mike Metzger succeeded in his attempt, even threw in a flip and landed safely. Hmmm...that is just nutty!
We had dinner with an old friend and her daughter at a beautiful Italian restaurant. It was sweet to catch up with her and share stories about our jobs and lives. And now we are packing up to leave tomorrow.
Having the laptop here has helped me to feel connected to home. I received an email from our friend Dee who just had a baby girl, Sadie. Little, well not too little at 9 lbs 7 oz, Sadie is experiencing some breathing problems; pray with us that she begins to breathe easy very soon. Another email telling us of baby grandson Reece's dedication at Willow in a few weeks. What a blessing that smiley baby is! Reading Drew's blog brought back the reality of those jolts of remembering Laurie is really gone. Sometimes, I still don't really feel it is true.
Pete and I have relaxed and enjoyed some good time together. Tomorrow we celebrate our new anniversary on Cinco de Mayo, seventeen years together. It has been quite the ride, much joy, much sadness and everything in between. As I fly to Dallas to spend time with the Houston Boncimino's for Greg's graduation, and Pete flies back to Chicago to DJ a wedding, we will be thinking how lucky we are to have each other...how fortunate we are to have the great family we have, what great supportive friends we have and how great God is. How could we carry on without Him?
Happy Cinco de Mayo. Happy Anniversary, Petie. I love you.
